Core Strength and Low Back Pain
A post from Harvard Medical School discusses the advantages of core strengthening exercises to help prevent back pain, as well as a leading into a healthy, more active life.
Your “core” is a group of muscles that includes the abdominals, the back, and the pelvis. Together, they provide strength and motion to both your upper and lower body.
How does exercising your core help with back pain? Dr. Edward Phillips from Harvard explains:
“Low back pain can be prevented by exercises that promote well-balanced, resilient core muscles. When back pain strikes, a regimen of core exercises is often prescribed to relieve it, coupled with medications, physical therapy, or other treatments if necessary.”
