Scott E. Metzger, MD
Scott Metzger, M.D., is a Board Certified Pain Management Specialist. A lifelong resident of central New Jersey, Dr. Metzger received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Boston University. He then completed his residency and fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Maryland.
Dr. Metzger established his Monmouth County-based pain management practice in 2000. Four years later, he joined forces with fellow Hopkins graduate Dr. Peter Staats to launch Metzger-Staats Pain Management. Today, the practice has locations in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex counties.
Dr. Metzger believes in giving his patients the most compassionate care possible. His practice concentrates on pioneering innovation in the science of pain medicine. This is reflected in the fact that Dr. Metzger has been recognized as one of New Jersey’s Top Doctors by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. He has been awarded this distinction for the last seven years. (2007-2013) U.S. News and World Report also acknowledged Dr. Metzger as one of the Top Pain Management Specialists in the country.
Dr. Metzger is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology, with an added qualification in Pain Management. He is currently on staff at several hospitals in New Jersey: Riverview Medical Center (Red Bank), Bayshore Community Hospital (Holmdel) and Monmouth Medical Center (Long Branch).
Dr. Metzger currently practices in Premier Pain’s Shrewsbury and East Brunswick pain management offices.
Dr. Metzger currently resides in Marlboro, New Jersey with his wife and four children. He was elected to Marlboro’s Township Council in 2009, where he currently serves as President. He enjoys snowboarding, as well as playing soccer and basketball.
